Meet Linda, Our Founder
Linda Gieskes-Mwamba had no intention of starting a beauty brand, but her love for beauty began at a young age. Exploring her mother's beauty cabinet as a curious 5-year-old, she found joy in trying on creams, lotions, and perfumes, preferring this to playing outside with other children. This early fascination extended to spending time in pharmacies, uncommon for someone her age, where she sought to understand cosmetic products' benefits and ingredients. She particularly admired French pharmacies for their clean and minimalistic products, which instilled a sense of trust in her, unlike what she saw in African cosmetics.
Her perspective shifted when she decided to stop relaxing her hair at age 23. Curious about alternatives for her curly/coily African hair, she found inspiration online from women who looked like her. This led her to believe that her hair could be healthy and thrive without relaxing it. However, she faced challenges in finding affordable and accessible natural haircare products in South Africa. This prompted her to explore local markets and discover the wealth of natural African ingredients available. She began creating her own haircare products, using ingredients like mango butter, aloe vera, and jojoba oil, found in local markets, and sharing them with friends and family as her hair thrived. This journey ultimately led to the creation of her brand, Suki Suki Naturals, starting with her first product, Miraculous Oil, symbolizing the magic of African ingredients and the beauty of natural haircare in 2014.
10 years later, Suki Suki Naturals is growing and thriving, committed to celebrate African beauty in all its glory.
